What is coaching?
We practice thinking and feeling in particular ways, with the goal of living better. We practice by talking, connecting, doing, and being.
What do I bring to coaching?
I’m a passionate and caring career educator and public servant. I have a master’s in teaching and a PhD in psychology. My expertise includes: creativity, resilience, joy, writing, LGBTQ+, geekdom/fandom, trauma, and career advancement (e.g., graduate school). I believe we can all “reach2grow!”

What does “living better” mean?
You decide! My coaching is mostly non-judgmental and values neutral. A key part of living better is deciding what “better” means for you.
What’s on the table?
Anything you want and nothing you don’t! We design our alliance: our space, processes, and support. As a starting place, consider Career, Health, Joy, Relationships, & Spirit. We can play with anything in there or something else.
What does “play” mean in coaching?
Try to be present, open, and joyful. Try to laugh at our vanity and clumsiness! We can be playful and serious at the same time, and both beautiful and messy. We can dig into one topic, jump around, or just get lost together.
How is coaching different than counseling?
I don’t diagnose, treat, or prescribe. We focus on your present and future, rather than your past. However, my coaching is trauma-informed and you can put anything on the table. Coaching is compatible with counseling: you can bring goals and learning from one space into the other.
What are some of your key influences/beliefs?
- Teaching: we learn best what we discover ourselves.
- Psychology: behaviorist, cognitive, and positive principles.
- Theater and Gaming: framing, masks, and improvisation.
- Taoism: innate knowing and effortless action.
- Co-Active Coaching: we are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole.
What’s on your coaching playlist?
It’s always changing and growing! Some highlights:
- “This Is Me” (Kesha)
- “Roar” (Katy Perry)
- “Shut Up and Dance” (Walk the Moon)
- “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” (Bachman Turner Overdrive)
- “Desire” (Ryan Adams)
Consider what’s on your living better playlist!
